Altar Guild Ministry
The Altar Guild at Good Shepherd meets on a quarterly basis to discuss Altar Guild responsibilities and service projects. The Altar Guild women have in the past made lap quilts for the residents of area nursing homes. Altar Guild meetings provide opportunities for establishing friendships with other Christian Women.
Alter Guild group members:
Þ have the responsibility of preparing the sanctuary for all worship services.
Þ changing paraments
Þ setting up for communion
Þ hanging appropriate banners
Christian Education Ministry
Providing opportunities for adults and children to learn and grow with each other.
We believe Christian learning is a life long process and one that takes more time, discussion and in-depth study than the worship service on Sunday allows. Worship is one part of our God experience, but scripture reading, praying, study and interaction with other Christians are all necessary for our spiritual growth.
Christian Education group members:
Þ Lead or teach groups of children or adults in lessons from the Bible, through Bible study, crafting, drama and music.
Þ Build relationships with group members through sharing, prayer and support of each other.
Þ Explore the Bible together.
Þ Meet regularly to plan the Christian Education activities for our congregation and community.
Ways to Learn About Jesus:
Þ Youth Sunday School following worship. Children of all ages are welcome.
Þ First Communion Classes.
Þ Children's Choir. We practice each Sunday morning during Sunday School.
Þ Confirmation Classes for 6th - 12th grade students.
Þ Vacation Bible School each summer.
Þ Youth fellowship and service activities.
Þ Adult Sunday School following worship.
Þ Bible Study groups (seasonal).
Þ Stewardship activities.
Evangelism Ministry
We Lutherans call ourselves evangelical because we try to look beyond ourselves to bring the gospel to community life with people of other faiths and those of no faith.
We Believe that God has commanded us to share his Word with all people.
We Challenge ourselves to glorify God, share God's Word and do His will.
Evangelism Ministry Group Members:
Þ Live out the group mission in daily life.
Þ Attend congregational training events.
Þ Pray for and support other group members.
Þ Provide evangelism opportunities.
Þ Worship God and study his word through group devotions and prayer.
Þ Meet monthly and work to find opportunities to share Gods Word within our own congregation, our community and the world
Fellowship Ministry
The mission of the Fellowship Ministry Group is to build a stronger Church Family by offering opportunities for Christian Fellowship. As Christians, we are called to belong, not just to believe. Everyone is welcomed into the fellowship of the family of God. We are not alone. We have each other for support
Fellowship Ministry Group Members:
Þ We organize events and activities, providing fellowship opportunities for the congregation and guests.
Þ Provide refreshments and fellowship opportunities between worship service and Sunday school.
Þ Plan travel events from day-trips to week cruises, providing an opportunity for members to travel in the company of fellow Christians.
Þ Actively participate in monthly lunches to implement the fellowship ministry mission.
Þ Pray for and support each other.
Þ Worship God and study His Word through group devotions and prayer.
Service Ministry
The mission of the Service Ministry Group is Service to the congregation, service to the community and service to the world.
Service Ministry Group Members:
Þ Visit shut ins:
...sharing time with Nursing Home residents.
Þ Postal service ministry:
...sharing church bulletins and sermons with those unable to attend services.
...remembering members at times of need and joy with cards.
Þ Simple Suppers:
...meals to share in times of joy and sorrow .
Þ Audio tape ministry
...providing audio tapes of worship service to those unable to attend.
Þ Support of Sheltering Arms
...once a month serving meals to residents.
Þ LOVE Outreach Food Pantry
...donations of non-perishable food items.
Þ Literacy
...working as literacy volunteers in local schools.
Þ America House
...visitation and interaction with residents at the facility.
Þ Mission projects
...donations to the Navajo.

Worship and Music Ministry
The worship and music ministry group works to enhance the worship experience by providing support activities for each worship service. Good Shepherd uses service settings from both the Lutheran Book of Worship and the With One Voice hymnal.
